Add your Gemini key

1. Get a free key

Go to aistudio.google.com/apikey, sign in with a Google account and create a key. Google's free tier has daily limits that are plenty for most small businesses; check your usage in Google AI Studio.

2. Save it in the portal

1. Open Settings → AI keys.
2. Paste the key (it starts with AIza) and save.
3. The key is encrypted with AES-GCM before it is stored and is never shown again — the portal shows a short fingerprint so you can tell keys apart.

The key belongs to your user: each team member who sets up a persona adds their own key. The Android app does not need the key.

Replacing or deleting

Saving a new key replaces the old one. Deleting it stops AI replies until you add another — drafts already created stay in your inbox.

If replies stop

Failed AI calls are listed in Settings → Logs. The usual causes are an expired or deleted key, or the free-tier daily quota being used up.
